Epidemiological Studies

Epidemiological Studies

Advanced methodologies to understand health and disease patterns — tracking trends, informing health policies, and shaping public health strategy.

Overview

Pioneering Epidemiological Research in Turkey

Omega CRO is a leader in epidemiological research in Turkey, with a proven track record of designing and executing landmark national studies that have shaped public health policy. Our epidemiological expertise spans prevalence and incidence studies, population-based cohort studies, disease registries, and health outcome research.

Our approach combines rigorous scientific methodology with deep operational excellence — from population-based sampling and large-scale field operations to advanced statistical modeling and health policy impact analysis. We have successfully managed studies involving thousands of volunteers across hundreds of centers, generating data that directly informed national health strategies.

Track Record

Landmark Epidemiological Studies

Our research has directly informed Turkish national health policies and international guidelines.

Turkish Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (TURKMI)

A cornerstone national registry conducted across 50 PCI-capable centers with population-based sampling. Prospectively enrolled consecutive patients to assess management from symptom onset to hospital discharge, with a 2-year follow-up cohort evaluating long-term outcomes and guideline implementation.

Hypertension Prevalence (PatenT & PatenT2)

Conducted with nearly 5,000 volunteers, these landmark studies were pivotal in determining and re-investigating the prevalence of hypertension in Turkey, providing critical national baseline data.

Hypertension Incidence (HinT)

Built upon the PatenT population, this study calculated the incidence of new-onset hypertension, offering insights into the progression of this major cardiovascular risk factor.

Chronic Heart Failure Prevalence (HAPPY)

A crucial investigation into the prevalence and predictors of heart failure within the Turkish population, highlighting the burden of this condition.

Salt Consumption Study (SALTURK)

Examined the direct correlation between salt intake and hypertension. Findings directly informed the Turkish Ministry of Health's national initiative to reduce salt content in bread — demonstrating the real-world policy impact of our research.

Cappadocia Cohort Study

An ongoing cohort study identifying chronic disease risk factors, including cardiovascular ailments, in specific regions — providing longitudinal data on disease development and prevention.

Methodology

Epidemiological Study Capabilities

Population Sampling

Rigorous population-based sampling methods ensuring representative data across age, gender, and geographic strata.

Multi-Center Field Operations

Large-scale field operations across hundreds of centers and thousands of volunteers with standardized data collection protocols.

Health Policy Impact

Studies designed from inception to inform national health policies, regulatory decisions, and public health interventions.

Longitudinal Follow-Up

Multi-year follow-up cohorts tracking disease incidence, progression, and long-term outcomes in the general population.

Application Scenarios in the Omega Ecosystem

How the Omega Research Ecosystem powers epidemiological research with decade-long biobanking, population-level genetics, and longitudinal laboratory data.

Omega Care

Community-Based Data Collection

Home visits and mobile research units for geographically dispersed epidemiological cohorts, enabling data collection from elderly, rural, and hard-to-reach populations.

Omega Genetics

Population Genetics

Population-level genetic screening and allele frequency studies, pharmacogenomic profiling of cohort participants, and gene-disease association research.

HelixLab

Population-Level Biomarker Panels

Standardized laboratory panels (lipid profiles, glucose, HbA1c, inflammatory markers) across thousands of participants with consistent pre-analytical quality over multi-year studies.

Omega Bio

Dried Blood Spot Standardization

Kit-based dried blood spot (DBS) collection enabling large-scale, decentralized field sampling for epidemiological studies with consistent analytical quality.

Omega Biorepository

Decade-Long Population Archive

Multi-decade biobanking of serum, plasma, and DNA samples from cohort participants, enabling future biomarker discovery and retrospective disease association studies.
